The Model Money Talk for A Professional Model

How many models make a living for themselves, is everyone happy, does their success necessarily mean that they can afford a good healthy lifestyle?
From a very young age, I was thought by my sister to save all the money I ever made. I think I probably started since I was 16 and it was the best decision I have ever made.
The key to successful modeling is a brain behind all the cash that you are making on a day to day basis.
As a Professional Model, it is very important to think of a future as our careers tend to be very short. Which means, investing in various kind of businesses, thinking of a possible startup, and maybe buying an apartment could be a settled future for a model.
In this business, we are exposed to all kinds of jobs starting from makeup to styling, onset we are the audience therefore some models choose a different direction in their career path.

The ugly side of our business is that if we are not smart enough to check our contracts, calculate our earnings then at most times we get fooled and ripped by our agencies.
Especially when we come on international contracts where the agency advances the expense for us and some times it is so high that it’s impossible to cover it with jobs.
Not because the city is super expensive, it could be from the profit that the agency is taking for the apartments, pricing up the driver, website fee, comp cards whichever honestly.
As much as I love my job am always trying to do something on the side and make the income generate on a constant base as some times models cant relay on agency paying after 90 days.
I am very grateful that modeling is my fulltime job at the moment but I am studying business management at the same time just because it can be a very dreadful job at times.
It is important to challenge yourself, strive for something more than just being a model. Luxurious items won’t help you to grow but investing in your own future is the key to success.
Some advice I would give to upcoming talent is to save their money, try to invest in properties & startups.
If there is a lot of income being generated, the best is throw a couple of thousands where your sure you can get your money back and see where it takes you.
Money should not be laying in the bank, should always be moving around, so always seek for new opportunities and don’t get too hyped about all the expensive things you can buy.
Our career path is short and we never know how it will turn out in the future , therefore being intelligent and smart with your money will help to give you an extra 10 years ahead.
